Getting Involved - 10

Some impresssions from the admin support team
I can only report from some of the things I saw!
The Ladies meeting was used to encourage in evangelism.  One exciting thing that happened was one young lady was so encouraged by all she learnt she wanted to come with us to Penzance to do some street work.  Paulette from the Welsh team came with us and she gave her some tips and partnered with her.  It was a very fruitful time – five were saved during our time there.
We had a visit from two Police Community Support Officers – sent by their Sergeant following a complaint from a nearby bank. After some interesting conversations with them they were satisfied that we had done nothing wrong.  Even they admitted that they were “struggling” with enforcing new diversity etc legislation.  Liz Doyle was heard to say to one of the officers that she had spent 3 weeks preaching in Pakistan and the police were there to protect her and yet when she comes to England they harass her.
I was led to one elderly lady and went for a coffee with her.  We spent an hour together and she was very happy to give her life to Jesus.  I was then able to link her up with a house fellowship.
A young Chinese lady working in a nearby Chinese medicine centre told us that she had recently moved to Penzance from Manchester where she had given her life to the Lord.  However she was lacking fellowship with other Christians and with the help of a local evangelist couple we able to put her in touch with a good local church.
While walking through the streets the Doyles met a couple from South Africa who had been walking the streets during the day praying for the town.  They had been sent by God to pray for Cornwall – they knew nothing of the mission.
Truro came in late and we moved out on the streets to sing, there was preaching and also drama.  Many people had good conversations and we were able to invite many to the free cream tea in the afternoon.
I spoke to a young man who was laughing at us singing.   I introduced him to a younger man on our team.  The lad was an atheist but he came along to the cream tea.  After he and his friends had left, Ben the American who had talked to them said he felt on a scale of 1 – 10 they had been brought from 0 – 2/3 steps nearer to God.
Maurice engaged with a number of homeless men, one gave him an impromptu tour of Truro Cathedral. The other man surprised us by making the bus journey to the celebration at Wadebridge and was seen entering into the praise and worship with great enthusiasm and listening intently to all that was shared.  We gave him a Bible and a lift back to Truro.  During the journey he told us he had been converted many years ago in Trowbridge.
The Big Issue seller had come in to the meetings in Truro and rededicated his life.
Another man, after a long chat with Maurice, asked the minister to go with him to the altar to forgive a church leader.  There were many such accounts from most members of the team.
In Liskeard there was singing (GK Real ) and drama (Selah players) in the street.  Liz Doyle gave a message and a young boy of 13 came up to her afterwards and said “I prayed that prayer just now”.  It was wonderful to see him being linked up with the Youth Leader and to see him in church the next morning sitting with GK Real.
To sum it up for me – on the Saturday while travelling in the car with Liz Hollies to Wadebridge I said it had been one of the most exciting, exhausting weeks of my life but I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.  She responded by saying how sad she was it was all coming to an end.
