Monica Hill

Monica Hill started her career as a Grammar School Teacher and following her marriage to Clifford became actively involved in community development. During their ministry in the East End she reopened three redundant churches rebuilding one under a Job Creation programme with a team of long-term unemployed workers. She oversaw the work of the new buildings and then helped them to become thriving centres of community-based evangelism. This practical experience opened the doors to college lecturing in community studies, inner city issues and new initiatives in church growth.

She was a founding member of the British Church Growth Association and was its first Director, a post which she held for 23 years. During this time she founded and edited the Church Growth Digest, helped form the European Church Growth Association (now European Leadership Association), pioneered the work of Natural Church Development in this country (which still continues as Healthy Church-UK) as well as developing a publishing and resource arm and establishing a substantial church growth library which is now based in Moggerhanger House. The Association also had branches for Church Planting and the Small Church.

Monica also wrote many articles published internationally on church growth issues as well as authoring a number of books both on her own and with her husband Clifford.
