| >> LEGISLATION ISSUES \\ MEDIA We are currently sharing in the pleasure of our colleagues in the Centre for Justice and Liberty who have worked very hard to gain support for changes in the Communications Bill that has been before Parliament for some months. As the law stands at present in Britain, Christian broadcasting on radio and television is banned except for the regular programmes put out by BBC and ITV which are usually highly sanitized and of a liberal nature. You can be a pornographer and own a broadcasting station in Britain, but you cannot be a Christian!! Christians in both Houses of Parliament have been working for a change in legislation to allow Christian broadcasting stations such as Premier Radio, that broadcasts to the London region, to own a licence by right. The Communications Bill has been before the House of Lords and the government has been working hard to ensure that the ban on Christian broadcasting is maintained. But they were unable to pursue their policy in the face of strong Christian opposition. Amendments to the Bill were put forward to enable Christians to broadcast freely to the 72% of the population who claim to be Christians. The Centre for Justice and Liberty The Centre for Justice and Liberty is an organisation working to reverse the laws against Christians and other religious groups regarding public broadcasting.
