Research and Development

A Research and Development Group has been set up by the Institute. The members of the group comprise four of the Institute Directors (David Brown, Chris Lever, John Matthews and Charles Wright). Peter Simpson of the University of the West of England, Richard Stone of Teleios Consulting and Matt Buttery also have research experience and are part of the group.

The Research undertaken will seek to address leadership issues such as:-
• The continuation of the question ‘What makes leaders successful?’
• UK examples of ‘good to great’ organsations (Jim Collins)
• Crucible moments in forming leaders
• Are they born, made, or something else?
• The role of power and authority
• Relational leadership.

Wilberforce Leadership

Peter Simpson and Clifford Hill cooperated on a paper for the Cranfield School of Managements, International Conference on Studying Leadership 2006; Knowledge into Action. The conference was held during December 2006 on the theme of the role of faith in the leadership of William Wilberforce.

18th-century Slavery

25th March 2007 is the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade. Clifford Hill and the Ministries at Moggerhanger Park began working some time ago on organising an exhibition of 'Slavery Past and Present'. This has now escalated into a national project which includes the leasing of an 18th-century replica slave ship and sailing it from Cornwall to a mooring in central London. Further details.

Ministries at Moggerhanger Park

The group has also been requested to advise on the ethical and Christian values which are the basis upon which all the Moggerhanger Park ministries are founded.

Thinking Session

Notes following early discussions in the Research and Development Group around the challenges of leadership are attached.
